Technical Foundation

The digital presence of temples plays a vital role in cultural preservation, community connection, and spiritual outreach. Our Technical Foundation exists to ensure that this presence is built on strong, unified principles that empower every temple—big or small—with reliable, secure, and user-friendly digital tools.

We focus on building common standards and frameworks that temples across Bharata can adopt and benefit from, fostering a shared digital ecosystem that is resilient, accessible, and future-ready.

Our Focus Areas

1. Unified Standards for Temple Technology

We are developing a set of common standards and design systems for the software used by temples—from simple websites to full-fledged applications.
This includes:

  • UI/UX guidelines tailored for devotional and cultural contexts
  • Responsive design standards for mobile and desktop
  • Accessibility principles to ensure inclusive experiences for all visitors
  • Multi-language support and localization best practices

Our goal is to simplify development, reduce duplication of effort, and ensure a consistent, high-quality user experience across all temple websites and apps.

2. Security and Best Practices

Temples must be equipped with secure and reliable digital infrastructure. We are creating a framework of:

  • Security guidelines to protect temple data and user privacy
  • Technical best practices for maintainability, performance, and scalability
  • Templates and checklists for implementing secure deployments and updates

These measures will ensure that temple digital assets are protected, trusted, and future-proofed.

3. Bharata Temple Web Directory

To promote visibility, collaboration, and discovery, we are building a comprehensive web directory of temples across Bharata. This will serve as:

  • A centralized resource for devotees to find and connect with temples
  • A showcase of temple initiatives, events, and services
  • A platform for temples to reach broader audiences in India and globally

The directory will also support tagging by region, deity, tradition, and services offered.

4. Collaboration and Community Building

Temples thrive when they collaborate. We're creating a digital platform that enables:

  • Knowledge sharing between temple administrators, developers, and volunteers
  • Collaboration on technical projects—themes, plugins, content systems, and more
  • Community forums and working groups to drive innovation and solve shared challenges
  • Opportunities for young developers and professionals to contribute in service of dharma

This platform will help foster a strong, self-reliant temple tech community across Bharata.
