Volunteer Guidelines & Code of Conduct
I. Mission, Role, and Compliance
- Dedication to Mission: The volunteer's focus must be dedicated only to the technology enablement of temples as defined by the trust's objectives.
- Uphold Trust's Principles: Follow all policies, procedures, and values of the trust at all times.
- Non-Partisan Activity: Do not engage in any political promotion, lobbying, or partisan activity while volunteering or while representing the trust.
II. Code of Conduct and Respect
- Code of Conduct: Treat everyone (staff, other volunteers, beneficiaries, and the public) with respect, dignity, and kindness (The Golden Rule).
- Prohibited Behavior: Avoid any form of discrimination, harassment, bullying, or offensive behavior. This is grounds for immediate termination of volunteer service.
- Professional Attitude: Maintain a positive and professional attitude while representing the trust in all interactions.
- Clear Communication: Keep all communication respectful, constructive, and clear.
III. Commitment and Accountability
- Fulfill Commitments: Fulfill all agreed-upon volunteer responsibilities and commit to doing your best.
- Reliability and Punctuality: Attend scheduled meetings on time. Inform the coordinator in advance if you are unable to attend or will be running late.
- Channel Feedback: Channel any complaints, feedback, or concerns through the volunteer coordinator or designated authority; do not raise issues publicly or with beneficiaries.
IV. Financial and Security Integrity
- Confidentiality: Keep all information, internal discussions, and documents confidential. This is critical to protecting the trust's operations and the privacy of its affiliates.
- No Unauthorized Donations: Do not accept or handle donations (cash, cheques, or online payments) unless you have been specifically authorized by the trust.
- No Personal Financial Involvement: Avoid personal involvement in financial transactions, borrowing, or spending on behalf of the trust without explicit, prior authorization.
- Safety Protocols: Follow all prescribed safety protocols (including digital/cybersecurity protocols) and report any incidents, hazards, or risks immediately.
- Avoid Risk: Refrain from engaging in any activities that may put yourself or others at risk of harm or liability.
V. External and Media Representation
- No Unauthorized Spokesperson: Do not speak to the media or public on behalf of the trust without express authorization from a trustee or designated communications officer.
- Social Media and Public Sharing: Do not share any trust-related content, internal discussions, or documents on social media or publicly without specific, prior permission. All photos/videos taken during volunteering must be approved before public sharing.
